This collage seems easy, but I must say my 7th grade with learning difficulties struggled a bit to get it right.
They had to choose an animal and try to copy the animal skin in colored paper.
They started to glue the background of the skin on black paper. Afterwards they had to cut and glue the skin parts on the colored background.
Drawing the silhouette wasn't very easy either.
One big mistake I made was that I had told them to choose an animal and bring pictures of the skin and the animal itself.
I didn't think about the black and white ones, those animals just won't work out!
The silhouette doesn't stand out on the background. And there are a lot of black and white animals: zebra, cow, panda. All kinds of black striped, dotted animals are difficult ...
This was the first time I tried this project and it failed with most of the children because of this...
There are a lot of birds, fish and other animals that will work out fine! I just didn't think this one through.
The giraffe worked well though ...

I love this idea! Who would have thought that the black and white animals wouldn't work until they tried it? I wouldn't have. I'm going to try it with my students, but I will limit the animal choices. Thanks for the tip and the idea!
