Well, after 2 years of walking through mud and bearing the noise it's finally there: our brand new school building.
I've been very busy because this Friday we will have the inauguration. A big event for 400 guests with dance, music, poetry, speeches (of the important people like the mayor).
The inauguration is build around a central theme: "the 5 foundations".
A few years ago the school asked teachers, kids, parents and other school members to take a survey about 'What is important in a school'.
5 big foundations were found that way.
The first one is RESPECT, the second one is CREATIVITY, the third one is KNOWLEDGE, the fourth one is ENVIRONMENT and the last one is WELL-BEING.
We linked every word to a color. Respect is red, creativity is yellow, knowledge is blue, environment is green and well-being got white.
For the inauguration I was asked to work around the foundation 'creativity'. I asked if I could make a big work of art around the 5 foundations and I got a green light.
My 8th graders have been working on 5 canvases of 50x150 cm. Each gets one of the colors of the foundations.
The words have to match what they represent. The kids are very enthusiastic, their work of art will get a special place in the brand new school. When I told them, their children will still see the paintings they were so proud.
They have been working very hard and I hope to finish the project today.
At the inauguration 'the making of the foundation creativity' will be shown in a movie, which I also hope to finish today.
I have put some more action pictures here to make you all a bit curious to see the result:
